There was a man—I know of no one among the people of Madinah, of those who prayed toward the qiblah, whose house was farther from the mosque than his—and he used to attend the prayers with the Prophet ﷺ. He said: It was said to him: "If only you would buy a donkey and ride it in the scorching heat and the darkness." He said: "By Allah, I would not like my house to be next to the mosque." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of that, and he asked him. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, so that my footprints may be recorded, and my steps, and my return to my family, and my coming and my going," or as he said. He said: So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah has given you all of that, and has granted you everything you reckoned upon, all of it."
