I came to al-Raqqah, and some of my companions said to me: Would you like to meet a man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ? I said: That would be a boon. So we went to Wābiṣah b. Maʿbad. I said to my companion: Let us begin by observing his manner. He was wearing a close-fitting cap with two ear flaps and a dusty-coloured silk (khazz) hooded cloak, and he was leaning on a staff in his prayer. After we had greeted him with salām, we spoke to him, and he said: Umm Qays bint Miḥṣan ؓ narrated to me that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ grew old and heavy with flesh, he set up a post in his place of prayer and leaned on it.
