The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed facing Bayt al-Maqdis for sixteen months, or seventeen months, and he loved that his qiblah would be towards the House. He prayed the ʿAṣr prayer and a group of people prayed with him. Then a man of those who had prayed with him went out and passed by the people of a mosque while they were bowing, and he said: "I bear witness by Allah that I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ facing Makkah." So they turned just as they were towards the House.
