We asked Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh about the time of the prayer of the Prophet ﷺ. He said: He would pray Ẓuhr at midday in the heat, and he would pray ʿAṣr while the sun was still bright, and he would pray Maghrib when the sun had set, and he would pray ʿIshāʾ: if the people gathered in large numbers he would hasten it, and if they were few he would delay it, and he would pray Ṣubḥ in the darkness before dawn.
