He mentioned an account of Abū Sufyān sending someone to kill Muḥammad ﷺ by stealth, and that God Almighty informed His Prophet of it, and the man accepted Islam. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said to ʿAmr b. Umayyah al-Ḍamrī and Salamah b. Aslam b. Ḥarīsh: Go out until you come to Abū Sufyān b. Ḥarb, and if you find him off guard, kill him. Then he mentioned an account of Muʿāwiyah seeing ʿAmr and informing his father of that, and that ʿAmr b. Umayyah and Salamah b. Aslam climbed up the mountain and hid in a cave. Then ʿAmr b. Umayyah went out and killed ʿUbaydullāh b. Mālik, the nephew of Ṭalḥah b. ʿUbaydullāh, and came to Khubayb b. ʿAdī, who was crucified, took him down and heaped earth over him. Then he mentioned their return to Medina, each on his own.
