( وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ ) عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، وَقَالَ لِي:
هَلْ تَدْرِي لِمَ فَرَّقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ وَأَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الشَّمَامِسَةِ وَنَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ الرُّهْبَانِ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: لَا أُرَاهُ إِلَّا لِحَبْسِ هَؤُلَاءِ أَنْفُسَهُمْ، فَقَالَ: أَجَلْ. وَلَكِنَّ الشَّمَامِسَةَ يَلْقَوْنَ الْقِتَالَ فَيُقَاتِلُونَ دُونَ الرُّهْبَانِ، وَإِنَّ الرُّهْبَانَ دَأْبُهُمْ أَنْ لَا يُقَاتِلُوا، وَقَدْ قَالَ اللهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: وَقَاتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ
