I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ with a group of women to pledge allegiance to him. We said: "We pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of God, that we will not associate anything with God, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor kill our children, nor bring a slander that we invent between our hands and our feet, nor disobey you in what is right." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "In what you are able and capable of." She said: We said: "God and His Messenger are more merciful to us than we are to ourselves. Come, let us pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of God." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "I do not shake hands with women. My word to a hundred women is only like my word to one woman," or: "like my word to one woman."
