Two women of Hudhayl fought each other, and one of them threw a stone at the other, which struck her belly and killed her, and she miscarried a fetus. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that the blood money for her was to be paid by the 'āqilah (paternal kinsmen) of the other woman, and that for the fetus there was a ghurrah: a male or female slave. He said: Then someone said: "How can we pay blood money for one who neither ate nor drank, nor spoke nor cried out at birth? Such a case is to be nullified." So the Prophet ﷺ said, as Abū Hurayrah claimed: "This one is from the brothers of the soothsayers."
