On the day of Khaybar, a poisoned roasted sheep was brought to him, which a Jewish woman had given him as a gift. The Messenger of God ﷺ ate from it, along with Bishr b. al-Barāʾ, and both of them fell severely ill because of it. Then Bishr died. When he died, the Messenger of God ﷺ sent for the Jewish woman and she was brought. He said: "Woe to you! What is this you have fed us?" She said: "I fed you poison. I knew that if you were a prophet, it would not harm you and that God would bring about His decree concerning you; and if you were otherwise, I wanted to relieve the people of you." So the Messenger of God ﷺ ordered that she be crucified.
