That his father Mālik and his two uncles Qays and ʿUbayd, the sons of al-Khashkhāsh, came to the Prophet ﷺ and complained to him of a raid by horsemen from their cousins against the people. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote for them: This is a document from Muḥammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, to Mālik, Qays and ʿUbayd, the sons of al-Khashkhāsh: You are safe and Muslims, with regard to your blood and your wealth. You shall not be held accountable for the crime of others, and none will wrong you except your own hands.
