ʿAbd b. Zamʿah and Saʿd disputed before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning the son of the slave woman of Zamʿah. Saʿd said: "O Messenger of Allah, my brother charged me, when I came to Mecca, to look for the son of the slave woman of Zamʿah and take him, for he is my son." ʿAbd b. Zamʿah said: "He is my brother, the son of my father's slave woman, born on my father's bed." Then he saw a clear resemblance to ʿUtbah, and said: "He is yours, O ʿAbd b. Zamʿah. The child belongs to the bed. And veil yourself from him, O Sawdah."
