Some of the captives on the day of Badr had no ransom, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made their ransom that they teach the children of the Anṣār writing. He said: A boy from the children of the Anṣār came to his father, and he said: "What is the matter with you?" He said: "My teacher beat me." He said: "The wicked one is seeking revenge for Badr. By Allah, you will never go to him again."
