حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَأْخُذُ مِمَّا فَرَضَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ كَلِمَةً أَوِ اثْنَتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا أَوْ أَرْبَعًا أَوْ خَمْسًا، فَيَجْعَلُهُنَّ فِي طَرَفِ رِدَائِهِ فَيَعْمَلُ بِهِنَّ وَيُعَلِّمُهُنَّ قُلْتُ: أَنَا وَبَسَطْتُ ثَوْبِي وَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُحَدِّثُ حَتَّى انْقَضَى حَدِيثُهُ فَضَمَمْتُ ثَوْبِي إِلَى صَدْرِي، فَإِنِّي أَرْجُو أَنْ أَكُونَ لَمْ أَنْسَ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْهُ.

Translation

✧ There is no man who takes from what Allah and His Messenger have ordained — a word or two or three or four or five — and places them at the edge of his cloak, then acts upon them and teaches them, but... I said: I am, and I spread out my garment, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued speaking until his discourse ended, then I gathered my garment to my chest. I hope that I have not forgotten any hadith I heard from him.
