حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

لَا يَفْتَحُ الْإِنْسَانُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بَابَ مَسْأَلَةٍ إِلَّا فَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ بَابَ فَقْرٍ، يَأْخُذُ الرَّجُلُ حَبْلَهُ فَيَعْمِدُ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَيَحْتَطِبُ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ فَيَأْكُلُ بِهِ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ النَّاسَ، مُعْطًى أَوْ مَمْنُوعًا.

✧ A person does not open for himself a door of asking except that Allah opens for him a door of poverty. For a man to take his rope and go to the mountain and carry firewood on his back and eat from it is better for him than to ask people, whether he is given or refused.
