حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُفَضَّلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَحْرٍ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَرَضَ لَكُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّكُمُ [ ﷺ ] الصَّلَاةَ فِي الْحَضَرِ أَرْبَعًا وَفِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ.

Translation

✧ O people, indeed Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has made obligatory for you upon the tongue of your Prophet ﷺ the prayer: four [rak'ahs] when resident and two rak'ahs when traveling.
