حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ يَعْنِي الْعَطَّارَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
أَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ اسْتَأْذَنَتْ رَبَّهَا فَنَفَّسَهَا فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَشِدَّةُ الْحَرِّ مِنْ حَرِّ جَهَنَّمَ وَشِدَّةُ الْقَرِّ مِنْ زَمْهَرِيرِهَا.

Jahannam asked its Lord for permission, so He granted it relief twice each year. Thus, the severity of the heat is from the heat of Jahannam, and the severity of the cold is from its bitter cold.
