حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ ابْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ عَنْ جَدَّةٍ لَهُ وَكَانَتْ سُرِّيَّةً لِعَلِيٍّ قَالَتْ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ

كُنْتُ رَجُلًا نَئُومًا، وَكُنْتُ إِذَا صَلَّيْتُ الْمَغْرِبَ، وَعَلَيَّ ثِيَابِي نِمْتُ ثَمَّ - قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ: فَأَنَامُ قَبْلَ الْعِشَاءِ - فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَرَخَّصَ لِي

✧ I was a man who slept a lot. When I had prayed Maghrib while still wearing my clothes, I would sleep there—Yahya b. Sa’id said: and I would sleep before Isha—so I asked the Messenger of God ﷺ about that, and he granted me a dispensation.
