حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ

يَقُولُ الْعَبْدُ: مَالِي وَمَالِي، وَإِنَّمَا لَهُ مِنْ مَالِهِ ثَلَاثٌ: مَا أَكَلَ فَأَفْنَى، أَوْ لَبِسَ فَأَبْلَى، أَوْ أَعْطَى فَأَقْنَى، مَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ ذَاهِبٌ وَتَارِكُهُ لِلنَّاسِ

Translation

Chain of narrators

  2. Ḥafṣ b. Maysarah
  3. al-ʿAlāʾ
  4. his father
  5. Abū Hurayrah
  6. al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ The servant says: 'My wealth, my wealth,' but he has only three things from his wealth: what he ate and consumed, or wore and wore out, or gave and made lasting. Anything other than that is going and he leaves it for the people.
