✧ When the angels attend the dying person, if he is a righteous man, they say, 'Come out, O good soul that was in a good body; come out praiseworthy and rejoice in rest and sweet basil and a Lord who is not angry.' This is said until it comes out. Then it is taken up to the heaven, and the gates are opened for it, and it is said, 'Who is this?' It is said, 'So-and-so.' They say, 'Welcome to the good soul that was in a good body; enter praiseworthy and rejoice in rest and sweet basil and a Lord who is not angry.' This keeps being said until it reaches the heaven where Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is. But if he is an evil man, they say, 'Come out, O wicked soul that was in a wicked body; come out blameworthy and rejoice in boiling water and foul pus and other torments of its kind.' It keeps coming out. Then it is taken up to the heaven, and the gates are opened for it, and it is said, 'Who is this?' It is said, 'So-and-so.' It is said, 'No welcome to the wicked soul that was in a wicked body; go back blameworthy, for the gates of heaven will not be opened for you.' So it is sent back from heaven and then goes to the grave. The righteous man is made to sit up, and it is said to him as was said in the first hadith. The evil man is made to sit up, and it is said to him as was said in the first hadith.
