machine translationJarīr b. Yazīd narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. ʿĪsā b. Yazīd and Jarīr b. ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd narrated it from him, from Abū Zurʿah, as raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ). Yūnus b. ʿUbayd differed from them, and narrated it from Jarīr, from Abū Zurʿah, from Abū Hurayrah, as stopped at the Companion (mawqūf). There is also disagreement about Yūnus in this hadith: the students of Ibn ʿUlayyah narrated it from him, from Yūnus, in this way. Muḥammad b. Qudāmah al-Maṣṣīṣī differed from them and narrated it from Ibn ʿUlayyah, from Yūnus b. ʿUbayd, from ʿAmr b. Saʿīd, from Abū Zurʿah, from Abū Hurayrah, as raised (marfūʿ). The correct (ṣaḥīḥ) version is from Ibn ʿUlayyah, from Yūnus, from Jarīr b. Yazīd, from Abū Zurʿah, from Abū Hurayrah, as stopped (mawqūf).
