✧ While two women were with two sons of theirs, a wolf came and took one of the sons. They brought their dispute to Dawud, and he judged the son to the older woman. They went out, and Sulayman called them and said: 'Bring a knife; I will split him between the two of you.' The younger woman said: 'May Allah have mercy on you; he is her son; do not split him.' So he judged the son to the younger woman. Abu Hurayrah said: By Allah, we did not know what al-sikkīn was except on that day; we used to say only al-mudyah.
