حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ الْمَعْنَى عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

خَرَجْتُ إِلَيْكُمْ وَقَدْ بُيِّنَتْ لِي لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ وَمَسِيحُ الضَّلَالَةِ، فَكَانَ تَلَاحَى بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ بِسُدَّةِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَأَتَيْتُهُمَا لِأَحْجِزَ بَيْنَهُمَا فَأُنْسِيتُهُمَا. وَسَأَشْدُو لَكُمْ مِنْهُمَا شَدْوًا، أَمَّا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ فَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ وِتْرًا، وَأَمَّا مَسِيحُ الضَّلَالَةِ فَإِنَّهُ أَعْوَرُ الْعَيْنِ أَجْلَى الْجَبْهَةِ عَرِيضُ النَّحْرِ. فِيهِ دَفَاءٌ كَأَنَّهُ قَطَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى. قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَلْ يَضُرُّنِي شَبَهُهُ ؟ قَالَ: لَا. أَنْتَ امْرُؤٌ مُسْلِمٌ، وَهُوَ امْرُؤٌ كَافِرٌ

✧ I came out to you when the Night of Decree and the Messiah of Misguidance had been made clear to me. Then two men quarreled at the threshold of the mosque, and I went to them to separate them, and I was made to forget them. I will give you a hint of them: as for the Night of Decree, seek it in the last ten nights on the odd nights. As for the Messiah of Misguidance, he is one-eyed, with a protruding forehead and a broad neck, with a slight stoop, as if he were Qatan b. Abd al-Uzza. He said: O Messenger of God, will his resemblance harm me? He said: No. You are a Muslim man, and he is a disbelieving man.
