machine translationDāwūd b. Abī Hind narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. ʿAlī b. ʿĀṣim narrated it from Dāwūd, from Abū ʿUthmān, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ. Others narrate it from Dāwūd, from a man whom he did not name, from Abū Hurayrah. Ibn Fuḍayl said: a man from Banū Rabīʿah b. Kilāb, from Abū Hurayrah. There is also disagreement about al-Thawrī: it was said from him, from Dāwūd, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah, but that is an error (wahm) on the part of whoever said it. What is preserved (maḥfūẓ) from al-Thawrī is from Dāwūd, from a shaykh, from Abū Hurayrah, and that is the correct one.
