حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

اشْتَكَتِ النَّارُ إِلَى رَبِّهَا فَقَالَتْ: رَبِّ، أَكَلَ بَعْضِي بَعْضًا فَنَفِّسْنِي، فَأَذِنَ لَهَا فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ بِنَفَسَيْنِ، فَأَشَدُّ مَا تَجِدُونَ مِنَ الْبَرْدِ مِنْ زَمْهَرِيرِ جَهَنَّمَ، وَأَشَدُّ مَا تَجِدُونَ مِنَ الْحَرِّ مِنْ حَرِّ جَهَنَّمَ

Translation

✧ The Fire complained to its Lord and said: O Lord, parts of me have consumed other parts, so grant me relief. He permitted it two breaths each year: the most intense cold you experience is from the bitter cold of Hell, and the most intense heat you experience is from the heat of Hell.
