حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى وَيَزِيدُ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ
مَرَّتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ. قَالَ يَزِيدُ: مَرُّوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِجِنَازَةٍ، فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا فِي مَنَاقِبِ الْخَيْرِ. فَقَالَ: وَجَبَتْ، ثُمَّ مَرَّتْ عَلَيْهِ جِنَازَةٌ أُخْرَى فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا فِي مَنَاقِبِ الشَّرِّ، فَقَالَ: وَجَبَتْ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّكُمْ شُهَدَاءُ فِي الْأَرْضِ
Translation

✧ A funeral procession passed by the Messenger of God ﷺ—Yazid said: They passed by the Messenger of God ﷺ with a funeral, and they praised it well in the merits of good. He said: 'It is assured.' Then another funeral passed by him, and they praised it ill in the merits of evil. He said: 'It is assured.' Then he said: 'You are witnesses on earth.'
