✧ I entered the mosque with ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr, and there was Ibn ʿUmar leaning against ʿĀ’ishah’s room, while some people were performing the forenoon (ḍuḥā) prayer. ʿUrwah said to him, “Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, what is this prayer?” He replied, “An innovation.” Then ʿUrwah said to him, “Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, how many ʿumrahs did the Prophet ﷺ perform?” He said, “Four—one of them in Rajab.” He said: We heard ʿĀ’ishah clearing her throat in the room, so ʿUrwah said to her, “Indeed Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān claims that the Prophet ﷺ performed four ʿumrahs, one of them in Rajab?” She said, “May Allah have mercy on Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. The Prophet ﷺ never performed ʿumrah except that he was with him, and he never performed ʿumrah in Rajab.”
