حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ

كُنَّا إِذَا بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ يُلَقِّنُنَا هُوَ فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ

Translation

✧ When we gave the oath of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to hear and obey, he would instruct us: "insofar as you are able."
