حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَصْبُغُ ثِيَابَهُ وَيَدَّهِنُ بِالزَّعْفَرَانِ. فَقِيلَ لَهُ: لِمَ تَصْبُغُ هَذَا بِالزَّعْفَرَانِ ؟ قَالَ: لِأَنِّي رَأَيْتُهُ أَحَبَّ الْأَصْبَاغِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَدَّهِنُ وَيَصْبُغُ بِهِ ثِيَابَهُ

Translation

✧ He used to dye his clothes and anoint himself with saffron. It was said to him: 'Why do you dye this with saffron?' He said: 'Because I saw that it was the most beloved of dyes to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; he would anoint himself and dye his clothes with it.'
