حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ قَالَ أَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ مَسْجِدِ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ بِقُبَاءَ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ لِي قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ فِيهِ فَلَقِيتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ مَاشِيًا فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ

أَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ مَسْجِدِ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ بِقُبَاءَ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ لِي قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ فِيهِ، فَلَقِيتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ مَاشِيًا، فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ نَزَلْتُ عَنْ بَغْلَتِي ثُمَّ قُلْتُ: ارْكَبْ أَيْ عَمِّ قَالَ: أَيِ ابْنَ أَخِي، لَوْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَرْكَبَ الدَّوَابَّ لَوَجَدْتُهَا، وَلَكِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْشِي إِلَى هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ فَيُصَلِّيَ فِيهِ فَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَمْشِيَ إِلَيْهِ كَمَا رَأَيْتُهُ يَمْشِي. قَالَ: فَأَبَى أَنْ يَرْكَبَ، وَمَضَى عَلَى وَجْهِهِ

✧ I returned from the mosque of Banu 'Amr b. 'Awf at Quba' on a mule of mine, having prayed there. I met 'Abdullah b. 'Umar walking. When I saw him, I dismounted from my mule and said, 'Ride, uncle.' He said, 'O son of my brother, if I wanted to ride mounts, I would find them. But I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ walking to this mosque until he arrived and prayed in it, so I love to walk to it as I saw him walk.' He refused to ride and went on his way.
