حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ السَّبَّاقِعَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ
أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَقْتَلَ أَهْلِ الْيَمَامَةِ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: يَا زَيْدُ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ، إِنَّكَ غُلَامٌ شَابٌّ عَاقِلٌ لَا نَتَّهِمُكَ قَدْ كُنْتَ تَكْتُبُ الْوَحْيَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَتَتَبَّعِ الْقُرْآنَ، فَاجْمَعْهُ.

✧ Abu Bakr sent for me after the killing of the people of al-Yamamah. Abu Bakr said: O Zayd b. Thabit, you are a young, intelligent man, and we do not suspect you. You used to write down the revelation for the Messenger of God ﷺ, so seek out the Quran and collect it.
