حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ
صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ فِي آخِرِ حَيَاتِهِ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَامَ، قَالَ: أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَيْلَتَكُمْ هَذِهِ؛ فَإِنَّ عَلَى رَأْسِ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ مِنْهَا لَا يَبْقَى مِمَّنْ هُوَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْأَرْضِ أَحَدٌ ؟ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: فَوَهِلَ النَّاسُ فِي مَقَالَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تِلْكَ فِيمَا يَتَحَدَّثُونَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثِ عَنْ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ، وَإِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَا يَبْقَى الْيَوْمَ مِمَّنْ هُوَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْأَرْضِ؛ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَنْخَرِمَ ذَلِكَ الْقَرْنُ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ prayed the night prayer one night in the last part of his life. When he said the salam, he stood up and said: 'Do you see this night of yours? After one hundred years from it, no one who is on the face of the earth today will remain.' Ibn Umar said: The people were confused about that statement of the Messenger of God ﷺ concerning what they report of these hadiths about one hundred years. But the Messenger of God ﷺ only said: 'No one who is on the face of the earth today will remain,' meaning that generation would come to an end.
