حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ حُرَيْثٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ
صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ أَنَّ الصُّبْحَ يُدْرِكُكَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ. قَالَ: فَقِيلَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ: مَا مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ؟ قَالَ: تُسَلِّمُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ.

✧ The night prayer is two by two. When you see that the dawn will overtake you, then pray witr with one. He said: It was said to Ibn Umar: What is two by two? He said: You say the taslim in every two rak'ahs.
