حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ اخْتَصَمَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَسَأَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمُدَّعِيَ الْبَيِّنَةَ، فَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ بَيِّنَةٌ، فَاسْتَحْلَفَ الْمَطْلُوبَ، فَحَلَفَ بِاللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَنْتَ قَدْ فَعَلْتَ، وَلَكِنْ غُفِرَ لَكَ بِإِخْلَاصِكَ قَوْلَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ

✧ Two men brought a dispute to the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked the claimant for proof, but he had no proof, so he asked the defendant to swear an oath. He swore by Allah, besides whom there is no god. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "You did it, but you have been forgiven because of your sincerity in saying: 'There is no god but Allah.'"
