Translation

✧ I was shown in a dream that I was drawing water with a bucket of a young she-camel from a well. Abu Bakr came and drew a bucket or two, and he drew weakly, may Allah forgive him. Then Umar b. al-Khattab came and drew water, and it turned into a large bucket. I have never seen a chief among the people do his work so thoroughly, until the people were watered and they settled at the watering place.

  يرويه عبيد الله بن عمر واختلف عنه فرواه محمد بن بشر العبدي عن عبيد الله بن عمر عن أبي بكر بن سالم عن ابن عمر وأسقط من الإسناد سالما وروي عن معمر عن عبيد الله بن عمر عن أبي بكر بن سالم عن ابن عمر عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم حديث آخر وهو إني رأيت كأني أشرب عسا مملوءا لبنا فأعطيت فضلي عمر لا أعلم حدث به غير أحمد بن أسد بن عاصم ابن بنت مالك بن مغول عن معمر فإن كان حفظه فقد أغرب به والله أعلم

  machine translationʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Muḥammad b. Bishr al-ʿAbdī narrated it from ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar, from Abū Bakr b. Sālim, from Ibn ʿUmar, and he dropped Sālim from the chain. And it was narrated from Maʿmar, from ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar, from Abū Bakr b. Sālim, from Ibn ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ, another hadith, namely: "I saw as if I were drinking from a large cup filled with milk, then I gave my surplus to ʿUmar." I do not know anyone who narrated it other than Aḥmad b. Asad b. ʿĀṣim, the grandson (son of the daughter) of Mālik b. Mighwal, from Maʿmar.
