حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ مَوْلَى مَيْمُونَةَ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ بِالْبَلَاطِ وَالْقَوْمُ يُصَلُّونَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ قُلْتُ مَا يَمْنَعُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ مَعَ النَّاسِ أَوِ الْقَوْمِ؟ قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ بِالْبَلَاطِ وَالْقَوْمُ يُصَلُّونَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ. قُلْتُ: مَا يَمْنَعُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ مَعَ النَّاسِ أَوِ الْقَوْمِ ؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: لَا تُصَلُّوا صَلَاةً فِي يَوْمٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ

✧ I came to Ibn ʿUmar while he was at the paved area and the people were praying in the mosque. I said: What prevents you from praying with the people, or the group? He said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: “Do not pray a prayer twice in one day.”
