حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ وَمَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْغَارِ فَخَرَجَتْ عَلَيْنَا حَيَّةٌ، فَتَبَادَرْنَاهَا فَسَبَقَتْنَا، فَدَخَلَتِ الْجُحْرَ. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: وُقِيَتْ شَرَّكُمْ كَمَا وُقِيتُمْ شَرَّهَا قَالَ: وَزَادَ الْأَعْمَشُ فِي الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ: كُنَّا نَتَلَقَّاهَا مِنْ فِيهِ وَهِيَ رَطْبَةٌ.

✧ We were with the Messenger of God ﷺ in a cave when a snake came out upon us. We rushed toward it but it got ahead of us and entered a hole. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'It was protected from your harm just as you were protected from its harm.' He said: And al-A'mash added to the hadith, saying: 'We were receiving it from his mouth while it was still moist.'
