حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ

كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ مِمَّا يُذَكِّرُ كُلَّ يَوْمِ الْخَمِيسِ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: لَوَدِدْنَا أَنَّكَ ذَكَّرْتَنَا كُلَّ يَوْمٍ ! قَالَ: إِنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُمِلَّكُمْ؛ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَتَخَوَّلُنَا بِالْمَوْعِظَةِ كَرَاهِيَةَ السَّآمَةِ عَلَيْنَا.

Translation

✧ Abdullah used to remind (us) every Thursday. Someone said to him: 'We wish you would remind us every day!' He replied: 'I dislike wearying you. The Messenger of God ﷺ used to apportion his admonitions to us, out of dislike of causing us boredom.'
