حَدَّثَنَا أَسْبَاطٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ عَنْ كُرْدُوسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

مَرَّ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَعِنْدَهُ خَبَّابٌ وَصُهَيْبٌ وَبِلَالٌ وَعَمَّارٌ، فَقَالُوا: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، أَرَضِيتَ بِهَؤُلَاءِ، فَنَزَلَ فِيهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ: وَأَنْذِرْ بِهِ الَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَنْ يُحْشَرُوا إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ بِالظَّالِمِينَ.

✧ A group of Quraysh passed by the Messenger of God ﷺ while Khabbāb, Ṣuhayb, Bilāl, and ʿAmmār were with him. They said: “O Muḥammad, are you satisfied with these?” So the Qurʾān was revealed concerning them: “And warn with it those who fear that they will be gathered to their Lord,” up to His saying: “And God knows best the wrongdoers.”
