حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
كَانُوا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ بَيْنَ كُلِّ ثَلَاثَةِ نَفَرٍ بَعِيرٌ، وَكَانَ زَمِيلَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَلِيٌّ، وَأَبُو لُبَابَةَ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ إِذَا كَانَتْ عُقْبَةُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، قَالَا لَهُ: ارْكَبْ حَتَّى نَمْشِيَ عَنْكَ فَيَقُولُ: مَا أَنْتُمَا بِأَقْوَى مِنِّي، وَمَا أَنَا بِأَغْنَى عَنِ الْأَجْرِ مِنْكُمَا.

✧ On the day of Badr, for every three men there was a camel. The companions of the Prophet ﷺ were Ali and Abu Lubabah. He said: When it was the Prophet's turn to walk, they would say to him: 'Ride until we walk instead of you.' He would say: 'You are not stronger than me, and I am not less in need of the reward than you.'
