✧ He came to Abdullah b. Mas'ud and said: 'I recited the mufassal tonight in one rak'ah.' He said: 'This is hasty recitation like the hasty recitation of poetry, or scattering like the scattering of dry dates. It was divided so that you may divide it. I know the pairs that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to join, twenty surahs: al-Rahman and al-Najm, according to the arrangement of Ibn Mas'ud, each two surahs in one rak'ah.' And he mentioned al-Dukhan and 'Amma yatasa'alun in one rak'ah.
