حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ
مَنْ قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ، عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ إِنِّي أَعْهَدُ إِلَيْكَ فِي هَذِهِ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا، أَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ، فَإِنَّكَ إِنْ تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي تُقَرِّبْنِي مِنَ الشَّرِّ وَتُبَاعِدْنِي مِنَ الْخَيْرِ، وَإِنِّي لَا أَثِقُ إِلَّا بِرَحْمَتِكَ، فَاجْعَلْ لِي عِنْدَكَ عَهْدًا تُوَفِّينِيهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ، إِلَّا قَالَ اللهُ لِمَلَائِكَتِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ: إِنَّ عَبْدِي قَدْ عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ عَهْدًا فَأَوْفُوهُ إِيَّاهُ، فَيُدْخِلُهُ اللهُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ سُهَيْلٌ: فَأَخْبَرْتُ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ عَوْنًا أَخْبَرَ بِكَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ: مَا فِي أَهْلِنَا جَارِيَةٌ إِلَّا وَهِيَ تَقُولُ هَذَا فِي خِدْرِهَا.

✧ Whoever says: 'O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, I covenant with You in this worldly life that I bear witness that there is no god but You alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is Your servant and messenger. If You entrust me to myself, You will bring me near to evil and distance me from good, and I trust only in Your mercy. So make for me a covenant with You that You will fulfill for me on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not break promises'—Allah will say to His angels on the Day of Resurrection: 'My servant has made a covenant with Me, so fulfill it for him,' and Allah will admit him to Paradise. Suhayl said: I informed al-Qasim b. 'Abd al-Rahman that 'Awn reported such-and-such. He said: There is no girl in our family but she says this in her private quarters.
