حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّزَّالَ بْنَ سَبْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا قَرَأَ آيَةً عَلَى غَيْرِ مَا أَقْرَأَنِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَأَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ حَتَّى ذَهَبْتُ [بِهِ ] إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: كِلَاكُمَا مُحْسِنٌ لَا تَخْتَلِفُوا أَكْبَرُ عِلْمِي، وَإِلَّا فَمِسْعَرٌ

Translation

✧ I heard a man reciting a verse differently from how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had taught me to recite it, so I took him by the hand until I brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: “Both of you are doing well. Do not differ.” This is the extent of my knowledge, otherwise it is Mis’ar.
