✧ While the Prophet ﷺ was in a field, leaning on a palm branch, a group of Jews came to him and asked him about the soul. He remained silent, then he recited this verse to them: “And they ask you about the soul. Say: The soul is from the command of my Lord, and you have not been given knowledge except a little.”

machine translationʿAbdullāh b. Idrīs narrates it from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAbdullāh b. Murrah, from Masrūq, from ʿAbdullāh. Wakīʿ, ʿĪsā b. Yūnus and ʿAlī b. Mushir differed from him, and narrated it from al-Aʿmash, from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbdullāh, and this is the well-known one. Perhaps both are sound (ṣaḥīḥ), and Ibn Idrīs is among the most reliable (athbāt).
