حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍعَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ تَعَاهَدُوا هَذِهِ الْمَصَاحِفَ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ

تَعَاهَدُوا هَذِهِ الْمَصَاحِفَ - وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ: الْقُرْآنَ - فَلَهُوَ أَشَدُّ تَفَصِّيًا مِنْ صُدُورِ الرِّجَالِ مِنَ النَّعَمِ مِنْ عُقُلِهِ. قَالَ: وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ: لَا يَقُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ: إِنِّي نَسِيتُ آيَةَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ، بَلْ هُوَ نُسِّيَ.

✧ Take care of these copies of the Quran—or he said: the Quran—for it is more prone to escaping from the hearts of men than camels from their hobbles. He said: And the Messenger of God, upon him be peace, said: “Let none of you say: ‘I forgot such-and-such a verse’; rather, he was made to forget.”
