حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، وَسُئِلَ: هَلْ شَهِدْتَ الْعِيدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَلَوْلَا قَرَابَتِي مِنْهُ مَا شَهِدْتُهُ مِنَ الصِّغَرِ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ، ثُمَّ أَتَى الْعَلَمَ الَّذِي عِنْدَ دَارِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ، فَوَعَظَ النِّسَاءَ وَذَكَّرَهُنَّ، وَأَمَرَهُنَّ بِالصَّدَقَةِ، فَأَهْوَيْنَ إِلَى آذَانِهِنَّ وَحُلُوقِهِنَّ فَتَصَدَّقْنَ بِهِ. قَالَ: فَدَفَعْنَهُ إِلَى بِلَالٍ

✧ I heard Ibn Abbas when he was asked: “Did you attend the Eid prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” He said: “Yes, and were it not for my close relation to him, I would not have attended it due to my young age. He prayed two rakʿahs, then delivered a sermon, then came to the flag that was near the house of Kathir b. al-Salt, admonished the women, reminded them, and commanded them to give charity. So they reached to their ears and throats and gave their jewelry as charity.” He said: “And they handed it to Bilal.”
