✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died and some people apostatized, Umar b. al-Khattab said: O Abu Bakr, how can you fight people when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I was commanded to fight people until they say: There is no god but Allah. Whoever says: There is no god but Allah has protected his wealth and life from me, and his reckoning is with Allah, Mighty and Majestic'? Abu Bakr said: I will certainly fight those who separate prayer from zakah; zakah is the right due on wealth. By Allah, if they withheld from me a young goat they used to pay to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I would fight them over its refusal. Umar said: By Allah, it was only when I saw that Allah had opened Abu Bakr's chest to fighting that I knew it was the truth.

machine translationThe wording "ʿanāqan" (a young she-goat) is more sound (aṣaḥḥ), that is, than the narration of the one who narrated "ʿiqālan" (a camel's hobble) or left it unspecified.
