✧ The lizard was mentioned in the presence of Ibn Abbas, and a man from those sitting with him said: 'It was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he neither permitted it nor forbade it.' Ibn Abbas said: 'What a bad thing you say! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sent only as one who makes lawful and unlawful. Umm Hufayd bint al-Harith came to visit her sister Maymunah bint al-Harith, and she had food with lizard meat in it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came after having a drink, and it was offered to him. It was said to him: 'It has lizard meat in it.' He withdrew his hand, and those with him ate it. Had it been forbidden, he would have forbidden them. He said: 'It is not from our land, and we find it distasteful.'
