حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبُ بْنُ شِهَابٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ
أَتَيْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَا وَصَاحِبٌ لِي، فَلَقِينَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ عِنْدَ بَابِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَقَالَ: مَنْ أَنْتُمَا ؟ فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ، فَقَالَ: انْطَلِقَا إِلَى نَاسٍ عَلَى تَمْرٍ وَمَاءٍ، إِنَّمَا يَسِيلُ كُلُّ وَادٍ بِقَدَرِهِ، قَالَ: قُلْنَا: كَثُرَ خَيْرُكَ، اسْتَأْذِنْ لَنَا عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: فَاسْتَأْذَنَ لَنَا، فَسَمِعْنَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ يَوْمَ تَبُوكَ، فَقَالَ: مَا فِي النَّاسِ مِثْلُ رَجُلٍ آخِذٍ بِعِنَانِ فَرَسِهِ، فَيُجَاهِدُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَيَجْتَنِبُ شُرُورَ النَّاسِ، وَمِثْلُ رَجُلٍ بَادٍ فِي غَنَمِهِ يَقْرِي ضَيْفَهُ، وَيُؤَدِّي حَقَّهُ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: أَقَالَهَا ؟ قَالَ: قَالَهَا، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: أَقَالَهَا ؟ قَالَ: قَالَهَا، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: أَقَالَهَا ؟ قَالَ: قَالَهَا، فَكَبَّرْتُ اللهَ، وَحَمِدْتُ اللهَ وَشَكَرْتُ

✧ I came to Ibn Abbas, I and a companion of mine, and we met Abu Hurayrah at the door of Ibn Abbas. He said: 'Who are you two?' We informed him. He said: 'Go to people who have dates and water. Each valley flows according to its measure.' He said: We said: 'May your goodness increase. Seek permission for us to see Ibn Abbas.' He said: So he sought permission for us. We heard Ibn Abbas narrating from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: 'The Messenger of Allah gave a sermon on the day of Tabuk and said: "There is no one among the people like a man who takes hold of his horse's rein and fights in the cause of Allah, and avoids the evils of people, and like a man in the desert with his sheep, who honors his guest and fulfills his right."' He said: I said: 'Did he say it?' He said: 'He said it.' He said: I said: 'Did he say it?' He said: 'He said it.' He said: I said: 'Did he say it?' He said: 'He said it.' So I proclaimed Allah's greatness, praised Allah, and gave thanks.
