حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ

زَوَّجَنِي أَبِي فِي إِمَارَةِ عُثْمَانَ، فَدَعَا نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ. فَجَاءَ صَفْوَانُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ - وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ - فَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: انْهَسُوا اللَّحْمَ نَهْسًا فَإِنَّهُ أَهْنَأُ وَأَمْرَأُ - أَوْ أَشْهَى وَأَمْرَأُ -

Translation

✧ My father arranged my marriage during the rule of Uthman and invited a group of the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ. Safwan b. Umayyah came—he was an old man—and said: "The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Tear the meat with your teeth, for it is more wholesome and more palatable'—or 'more appetizing and more palatable.'"
