حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفٌ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ قَالَ

كَانَ أَبِي قَدْ صَلَّى خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سِتَّ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَعُمَرَ، وَعُثْمَانَ؛ أَكَانُوا يَقْنُتُونَ ؟ قَالَ: لَا. أَيْ بُنَيَّ، مُحْدَثٌ.

Translation

✧ My father had prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was sixteen years old, and behind Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman. Did they perform qunut? He said: No. My dear son, it is an innovation.
